I used the snow/ice as a chance to hibernate and slow down go a few days and so while I’m ready for the kids to go back to school tomorrow, I’ve also loved us all being home together with an excuse to do nothing. Also, in honor of Catherine O’Hara we’ve also started rewatching Schitt’s Creek and it is bringing me so much joy.

I’m helping some clients redo their family room in their fantastic historic home. We want to modernize things and make it functional for a young family while honoring the age and history and style of the home. These were two initial schemes I put together. My long time clients reached out because they wanted to wallpaper their (already lovely!) dining room. They had this one in mind but wanted to see some more options just to be sure that this was THE ONE. Turns out it was and looks fab thanks to @thewallsocietync. We changed the chandelier for a smaller one and this one reflected in the sideboard image is available for purchase if anyone needs a beautiful and large chandelier.

A new year and a new studio space is coming! I’ve loved my time on West Street and will miss it but I am excited for the change, a fresh perspective, and new opportunities ahead.

My client had narrowed down the wallpaper options before we met but this one was hands down THE ONE. We painted the trim but the existing vanity and mirror worked well. New light fixture to come and we are finalizing the adjacent mudroom.

We got this dining room refreshed just in time for Thanksgiving! My client had the furniture already but she wasn’t sure about the color she painted the space (swipe for the before pictures) and wanted the space to feel more finished. We added a warm natural grasscloth to the walls and custom window treatments. My client selected a new rug and I suggested that she replace the bench with additional chairs that matched the ones she already had. I love how cozy the space feels now!

The molding had this kind of obtrusive ledge at the top so we removed it to lower the molding, painted a pretty shade of blue, updated the vanity, mirror and light and the finishing touch was just installed today - a pretty wallpaper!

Sourced this runner for a client’s kitchen while I was at High Point market. I rolled it up and carried it with me and I misjudged how heavy it was going to be. I nearly took out a few people trying to get down the aisle on the park and ride bus but it was all worth it seeing it in its new home. Ollie approves too 🥰

I started rewatching Downton Abbey when we were in the UK because I was so inspired by the beautiful estates and palaces we got to see. One of the historians we met on the trip was super down on the accuracy of the show but I don’t care. It makes me happy and forget all the craziness in the world and I adore it. I’m almost finished rewatching the first two movies so I can go to the theater for the grand finale. I’m equal parts excited to watch it and sad for it to really end. I can also say that it might have been better the second time around - Maggie Smith’s lines are so witty and hilarious and I feel like I caught them all better the second time.

In addition to adding a lovely wallpaper, we painted the trim and ceiling in a coordinating blue, swapped out the builder grade mirror for one with more personality and added a roman shade in a fun geometric print for some softness and privacy. 💙💜

Today I finally had a long awaited hair appointment which was just in time because yesterday my husband was worried he found a bald patch on my hair which turned out to just be a big gray patch. So obviously I was feeling like a million bucks. 🙄

In non-related decorating news, we just added these beautiful custom drapes and tassel trim to this client’s lovely dining room and I adore how it completes the space!!

We transformed a client’s basement living area from an underused space to a place where the kids and adults can hang out, watch movies, and entertain. We added a huge custom sectional, reupholstered their massive ottoman and club chairs, and added wallpaper, custom pillows and some wonderful art that I am so glad my client said yes when I showed it to her! This room just exudes happiness 💕

Here’s the last part of my recent NYC trip that I haven’t shared yet (the rest is saved as a highlight) After the amazing hospitality and inspiration provided by everyone @kravetinc, a new pal of mine from the trip, Judy @fisherinteriors, took me for a whirlwind visit to the NYC Decoration and Design (D&D) Building. My brain nearly exploded with all of the beauty and I know one of my first NYC stops the next chance I get.

I helped these clients refresh a dated kitchen before they moved into their new home. The cabinets were pretty badly scratched and had ornate, heavy hardware but they were good quality and solidly made. (Swipe through for before pics). While a total kitchen renovation may be something they consider in the future, it wasn’t in the immediate budget and we needed to update it prior to move-in to get it ready for this family with three young kiddos. We kept the existing countertops so I played off the color in the veining with a beautiful warm taupe that we painted the cabinets, updated the hardware, backsplash and lighting and got new counter stools (with wipeable seats for the kiddos!). I just went back this week to start phase two and got to see the updates in person.
