It’s been a hot minute since I posted. As with most things in my life right now, I’m behind. Got a call today that I’m missing critical parts of Taco’s kindergarten registration, an email that they are missing overdue camp forms for my daughter and as of yesterday the oldest kid is now missing a school laptop. Everything is FINE.

Still waiting on the new light fixture but I had to share this fun update to this dining nook. We papered the ceiling in this punchy grasscloth, recovered the bench cushions in super durable and cleanable fabric and added these incredibly beautiful Roman shades to finish things off.

This was a project I worked on for clients. Funnily enough our focus was on the daughter’s room but then it started looking so cute we knew we needed to make a few updates to brother’s to keep it even steven.

Updates we made: fresh paint, wallpaper on the ceiling, new light fixture and lamps, new hardware on existing dresser and new desk and chair and my favorite part of the room was the transformation of the existing bunk beds with paint. Swipe to see the change!

These fun custom dining chairs are not lacking in personality! My client inherited dark wood traditional furniture from her family so we lightened and modernized the very traditional pieces by mixing in two of these chairs and a custom built lacquered banquette made by @rail_and_stile with modern hardware. It’s such a great mix!

Here’s a fun #beforeandafter. A client had this couch (swipe to see the before) but the bench seat and bottom of couch were sagging in the middle due to lack of support from the long bench seat and so we opted to change the cushions to a 3 seater, added an additional center leg for support underneath and did a fun fabric with a deep teal contrast cord. I never knew how much I would love a purple couch!

The kids and I were listening to Megan Trainer’s All About That Base the other day and it’s still in my head so when I say I’m “All About That Mix” please imagine I’m singing it to that song (except you are spared my terrible singing voice). For me, the mix is high/low, old/new, and mixing styles, patterns and color. This room really hit all those notes for me. So much of this space is custom but when we decided to add a console table with lamps (cordless and rechargeable so no cords!) to better divide the living room from the kitchen, we needed some stools to layer under the console. I found these on Amazon for like $60 each. I figured if they were bad once they arrived we could easily return them. But, they arrived assembled and are were so sturdy. We recovered the seats in a fabric to coordinate with the rest of the space and voila - custom-look for less!

A lovely primary bath renovation. The amazing walk-in shower/bathtub combo takes up the opposite side of the space so getting a pic was a challenge but it’s such a simply elegant space I wanted to share. Of course we wanted to inject some color 🌈 so we added this lovely vintage rug I sourced for them.

Swipe through to see a gallery wall in its completion. My clients had some awesome art they had collected. They had me over and I laid it out to show them how to arrange it. In addition to art placement, I advised on which pieces needed new frames and what style/color they should select for the reframing. Big props to them for getting it hung - I love how it turned out! I always find art days are some of my favorite client visits - it is so fun seeing and hearing about the art but it also feels so productive helping people know where to hang things that so often have been resting on the floor or shoved in the back of closets because people were unsure of where to put things.

A dramatic office/sitting room work in progress. We still need to layer a rug, sort out the coffee table, and do the window treatments but it’s such a fun space I thought I’d share. My client and had been eyeing the same vintage Henredon sofa on Facebook Marketplace (although I had it in mind for a different client! 🤣). She snagged it and while the shape was perfect it was very petite in his vintage style so to give it more presence in front of the big wall of built-ins we raised it up with new turned gold legs that also add a bit of glam. The Christmas countdown is on. And 2/3 kids have been taken out with a nasty illness. 😩 Here’s hoping for a quick recovery and that the rest of us don’t get taken down.

Got this update pic from a client in Charlotte today and was so excited to see the large scale art we sourced at market installed. The entry is two stories and so the first order of business was replacing the dated light fixture for this pretty one you can see in the corner. They had a rug that they loved but it was a little small so we layered a natural fiber rug underneath it. Then we replaced the furniture they had that was just too small for the space and gave them tons of storage for kids gear, shoes, etc. The last piece of the puzzle was finding art that was grand enough in scale as well as something that resonated with them. The photo doesn’t do the art justice - the green is just mesmerizing as are the details on the pieces. The space now feels so much more complete and importantly scaled appropriately for the massive ceiling height.

Here’s a fun solution we came up with for a client. These clients were renovating their home and were building a mudroom on the side entrance to house all of the coats, gear, etc for their three boys. The slate floor was selected to hide dirt and scuffs and my client knew she wanted to wallpaper the space. The issue was that this space opens up to their powder room, bedroom and living room and there was no good place to stop the paper. So, I suggested we treat the paper like a large scale piece of art and frame it out so that there was a defined stopping point for it. We selected the “frame” color and built-in cabinetry colors from the colors in the paper. This is a hard to photograph spot because of how long and narrow it is so you can swipe to get another angle.

My clients had this beautiful wood dining room furniture that had been passed down in their family that they wanted to incorporate into their space. To offset the dark wood furniture, we added a modern custom made buffet lacquered in a warm white with some fun modern hardware. We selected the lovely wall color to coordinate with the painting they wanted to incorporate in the room (not pictured). And we recovered the existing chairs seats and added custom captain’s chairs.
