Nursery in a Hurry!

I had been working with a lovely client on a few things for their home for a few months when I got a call from her to tell me that she was pregnant. Oh wait, and that they were planning to move from Durham to Raleigh. They hadn't found a house yet (in an extremely crazy market) so there was some uncertainty as to their timeline. She wanted me to help source a crib for their nursery and a glider so that those things were taken care of and could be transferred to the new house if they found one and we would iron out the specifics on the decor of the room once they knew where they were going to be.

A few months went by and they found their new home and it was awesome but needed some TLC. So, we started with the floors first before they moved in. We re-stained hardwoods downstairs and replaced carpet upstairs. And one of the rooms we carpeted was their soon-to-be nursery.

Here is the room when we started after the new carpet was installed:

After the flooring was complete and they were all moved into the new house, I met with my client in June at my office to discuss the actual design of the nursery and to look at fabrics and wallpapers. She was due in August so we were on a very short timeline to get the space finished!

There were some initial top contenders to my client as far as wallpaper and fabrics from our office meeting but she took some samples home to see in the room and to discuss with her husband. They landed on this adorable fox paper (which was extra special to me because it was on my own short list of paper options for my son's nursery!):

I picked out a coordinating wall color for the non-papered walls and we found the perfect vintage dresser for the space from our friends at Rail and Stile in the already completed area of their new showroom which helped move things right along! Next, I put together a moodboard so they could visualize the rest of the space:

We went with ready-made drapes to help with the budget and also the short timeline. They are black out so that baby can sleep and sleep and sleep - ha! :)

And I just recently got these photos back from my client of the room:

Baby is here safe and sound and I get to meet him in person tomorrow!
