As a small business owner myself, I love to support other small businesses and Small Business Saturday (aka the day after Black Friday) is a great time to think about shopping small businesses for the holidays! Shopping small businesses is a great opportunity to find thoughtful, unique and often very affordable gifts. In honor of small business Saturday this year I reached out to several small businesses that I love and put together this giveaway that will be posted on my Instagram account starting on Black Friday and will run until 9pm on Saturday evening. The winner will be announced the following day. I thought it would be nice to highlight those participants here on the blog so that I can link to their businesses and share a little bit more about them.
First, is a company called Musea Study created by Julia Keesler. I fell in love with Julia's work when I saw her candles at Chelsea on Green at Highpoint Market in the spring. Her candles are truly works of art and are equally as beautiful lit as they are unlit. They are small batched and made by hand from mold to candle and I was thrilled when I reached out to Julia and she generously agreed to share not one but two of her candles with me for the giveaway. Here are some examples of Julia's stunning candles.
I have always had a thing for interiors art - it marries two loves of mine! And even better when the interiors are colorful, layered and collected just like the spaces that the wonderfully talented Shann Spishak of Shann Spishak Studios paints. Shann is based in Seattle, Washington and like me shares a passion for decor, furniture and interiors and I've used her work in a few client homes. Her art is such a joy to look at and she's generous donated a print of one of my favorite pieces. She also takes commissions which is something I hope to do in the not too distant future. Here are a couple of examples of Shann's beautiful work.
Another small business that I'm excited to partner with for this giveaway is called Pastel Proper. Founded in 2021 right here locally in Raleigh, NC by two sisters, Ashley and Blair created the idea of a beautiful book paying homage to their hometown and since then they have expanded to many more cities both here in North Carolina and beyond. I have purchased their blank books for myself and as gifts and love them - they are the perfect shelf accessory! In addition to the blank books that they are best known for, they also sell beautiful lacquered trays - one of which they generously offered to include in the giveaway.
And finally is another artist whose work I just love, Meg Britten. Meg lives in Tampa, Florida with her family and her colorful and illustrative style is just so charming. I'm a huge fan of mixed media and I think it brings such great whimsy and texture to art and Meg's work perfectly exemplifies this. When I saw her hand painted ornaments on Instagram I knew they would be the perfect addition to round out the giveaway and Meg generously agreed! The hydrangeas are so pretty that you can use the ornament for the holidays and leave it out all year round!
